[GH 138] Abattoir & Satori – Megaloschemos

Satori, continuing a project first started in the 1980โ€™s founding member Dave Kirby brings an onslaught of industrial soundscapes, pounding drums and a dystopian vision of a world commited to destroying itself.
Comprising a mixture of harsh noise and power electronics with a harder and heavier percussive beat than before Satori enter 2018 with a collection of new songs โ€œDispossessionโ€ based on the physical and mental disconnect facing everyone in the modern world. A constant pervasive undercurrent of violence, the feeling of a society on the brink of a total meltdown and the fears and torments of the powerless individual.

Lorenzo Abattoir is an Italian-based noise artist and sound engineer from Torino. His work takes shape in a context of underground extreme noise music to become accessible through projects related to sound art. โ€œThe sound of chaos merging with order, where every detail and nuance seems to be carefully regulated and controlledโ€.

[TumorCD106] The Vomit Arsonist – Meditations On Giving Up Completely

Anyone familiar with The Vomit Arsonistโ€™s past body of work should know to expect a healthy dose of negativity and hopelessness with every release, but never has that been more true than with his 5th full length, Meditations on Giving Up Completely. There is no reinvention of the sound and no veering off course, but rather a narrowing of the sonic palette, condensed into a continual free-fall of complete despair and nihilism. As Andy Grant described it, Meditations is a release about “futility, failure, and no longer being able to find even a shred of worth in humanity”. That mindset is perfectly captured and reflected in the stripped down, monolithic nature and sheer dense weight of the 7 tracks here, where distant furnace blasts and scraping metal abrasions churn amidst toxic fumes and opaque, polluted murk, the vocals roaring through the mix in thick sheets of distorted fury. Those with a fragile mental state may want to steer clear of this one, but for those that find solace with the curtains drawn or at the end of a rope, Meditations on Giving Up Completely is unwavering in its direction and resolute in its approach.

[TumorCD100] Human Larvae – Behind Blinding Light

CD re-issue of Humanโ€™s Larvaeโ€™s Behind Blinding Light LP published on Freak Animal earlier in 2016. “Born from the ashes of Broken Diode, Germany’s Human Larvae first made an appearance with the โ€œHome is Where the Hurt Isโ€ full length on Existence Establishment in 2008. A series of tapes and comp appearances followed, as well as the second full length, 2013โ€™s Womb Worship. Early works were already strong and skillfully arranged, but each release showed a progression and maturation in sound, culminating in the brilliance that is Behind Blinding Light. Human Larvaeโ€™s ability to incorporate and balance more aggressive passages of junk metal clangor, swarming distortion, and ferocious vocals with hopelessly bleak and gloomy atmospheres immediately sets them apart from anything else in the scene today, though reference points can be made to Gnawed, IRM, Grunt, and Theologian. On a whole, Behind Blinding Light stands on its own as a recording of great depth and compositional expertise, and can be regarded as a benchmark recording of pure and true industrial music.

[TumorCD96] Steel Hook Prostheses – Calm Morbidity

15 years in and with 9 full length releases under their belt, itโ€™s safe to say that the terminally morbid, Dallas based duo that is Steel Hook Prostheses are the undisputed flag bearers for American death industrial. Perhaps they have been for a long time, but if there was any doubt, itโ€™s quickly erased within the first minutes of Calm Morbidity, their first full length since 2013โ€™s The Empirics Guild. Once again, we find them channeling all things grim and grotesque, and while they donโ€™t stray too far from the charnel house atmospherics youโ€™ve come to expect, thereโ€™s a dynamic and dark energy that exists with Calm Morbidity that never fully existed before. From the heavily polluted and blackened drones, decrepit, percolating frequency beds, and acid dripping, highly processed vocals, everything about this release feels intensified and elevated. An immersive and riveting display of the macabre and unequivocally a high watermark in an already illustrious discography.

[CSR222LP/CSR222CD] Trepaneringsritualen – Deathward, To The Womb

An invocation not so much of BABALON Herself, but of the tormented elemental of Frater T.O.P.A.N., and his fervent attempts to usher in the ร†on of Horus.
In the lyrics – based on the texts of Frater T.O.P.A.N. on the Babalon Working – the perilous flame that is BABLON is called upon to ravage creation. She is asked to scorch the earth clean for the coming cosmic renovation. The Eternal Virgin would spring from Her womb. From Her love, the new divine man would be born. 70 years after the Bablon Working was deemed successfully concluded, its utter failure is painfully apparent.
ยซAll love songs are of meยป She says. This is certainly true of the first five songs of Deathward, To The Womb. The final songs, All Hail The Black Flame, seem different altogether. In this guise, BABALON brings not solely love, but cataclysm; a holocaust brought upon the domain of Man. Manifested as the Black Flame, She reaches from a time before time, formless chaos, and rips apart the very fabric of the created worlds. Such is Her nature: two opposing principles; that of the nurturing mother, and that of the callous destroyer.
“She is flame of life, power of darkness – She destroys with a glance – She may take thy soul. She feeds upon the death of men.”
Appended to the six original songs is a specially commissioned 12 minutes and 57 seconds long ritual work entitled “I Remember When I Was God” (included as download for the vinyl edition), and attributed to Teeraal Rรคum Pheynix. BABALON was summoned at Winter Solstice 2015 under the sign of แšข, with assistance from Alone In The Hollow Garden, A.I.L of Arktau Eos, Michael Idehall, KzR of Bรถlzer, Nรฟland ii of Hadewych, and ร†ther. To destroy and to give life. We declare this ritual concluded and successful.
